Switzerland has initiated the building of a new Wind Farm in the Alps (Source: Wind Power Monthly.) This will be Switzerland’s first wind farm since 2016.

Swiss utility Azienda Elettrica Ticinese’s 11.75MW San Gottardo project will feature five of Enercon’s E-92 2.35MW turbines. The wind farm is being built at an altitude of 2,100 metres, complicating construction work, Enercon’s Swiss country manager explained. The Gotthard Pass in the Alps is closed during the winter, so Enercon only has a very short window for construction. It will only be able to deliver the tower segments and build the hybrid towers, which will have hub heights of 98 metres, in June. Turbine installation and completion of the wind farm are scheduled for October 2020.
